North Carolina Peanuts
June 13, 2022
Did you know that North Carolina is the 5th largest state for growing peanuts in the US? Georgia grow the most peanuts in the country with 50% being grown there, then it’s Florida (11%), Alabama(10%), Texas(9%), and North Carolina(8%). South Carolina is right behind with 4%.
We didn’t know there were so many North Carolina peanut farms (over 1400!) growing this plant year round. Bertie, Martin, and Pitt Counties grow the most peanuts in North Carolina. If you check out a sporting event this summer or are traveling around the state, hopefully you get to enjoy some local, NC grown peanuts. Chomp them up!
